Air travel

In many cases, Dikmen can provide substantially less expensive rates, whether your needs are domestic or international. Dikmen can also provide complete hotel and bed-and-breakfast information as well as numerous possibilities for pre- and post-meeting activities, such as short (one- to three-day) trips to the surrounding areas in the Pacific Northwest. When contacting Dikmen Travel, please be sure to mention ASIH.

SeaTac Airport is located about 25 miles south of the University District. Ground transportation is easily arranged upon arrival at the airport. The Shuttle Express provides transport to the UW on a continuous basis, for about $10 per person one way. Arrangements can be made at their booth in the baggage claim area. For more information, call (206) 622-1424 or toll free 1-800-487-7433. Taxi service is also available, but expensive; approximately $45 one way.

Travel by Bus or Rail or Boat

Both AMTRAK and Greyhound Bus Lines service Seattle. Rail passengers disembark at the King Street Station in downtown Seattle; for general information and reservations, call 1-800-872-7245. The Greyhound station is located at 8th and Stewart in downtown Seattle; for fare and schedule information, call 1-800-231-2222. If you are planning to travel by boat, there are are a variety of convenient marinas in nearby Lake Union, Shilshole Bay and Elliott Bay.

Travel by car

The University of Washington may be reached by car from either Interstate 5 or State Route 520 (Evergreen Point Bridge). If you are arriving from the north or south, take the I-5 NE 45th Street exit and proceed eastward (see map). Enter the campus by turning right on Memorial Way, one block past 15th Ave. NE. Stop at the gatehouse on your left and request parking information (see below). Take the next left onto Stevens Way and proceed east and southeast toward the residence halls, turning left onto Whitcom Court Road. The dorms, McMahon, Haggett, and McCarty, are on the right.

Parking

Parking for commuters is available on the UW campus for $5 a day, Monday-Friday, $2.50 on Saturday. Inquire at any of the various parking gatehouses for instructions to available lots.
